Today in the Department of Before They Were Star Trek Stars, we're goin' to the movies! So far I've been concentrating on early TV appearances, but today Marina Sirtis has a small role in The Wicked Lady (original theatrical release date October 28, 1983). I remember seeing this one on the video store shelves when I was a kid, so I was excited to dive in.
Sirtis plays the lover of Captain Jerry Jackson, a Restoration-era highwayman who gets involved with a bored noblewoman leading a double life as a lady by day and a thief by night. The movie is a much less-successful remake of a 1940s classic, reimagined as a Tom Jones-style romp with a lot of T&A. There's a notorious topless bullwhip fight scene between Sirtis and leading lady Faye Dunaway that nearly prevented it from being released in the UK. It's a bit of fun if you don't take it too seriously, and the costumes and sets are absolutely gorgeous.

🌈 wanna do something cool with me?
like, cool in the internet sense. because i have compiled all the data and i was right: queer shows are getting canceled twice as often. and earlier, too. we lost HALF of them this year!
i have all the data in a carrd (there's SO MUCH data) and it's kind of shaking out to be like. a legit thesis.
so even if your fave show is returning or finished already, it's still important to know this is going on in our current cultural landscape. and while LGBTQ book bans rise and our rights take hits, we need those messages that queer people deserve to be seen and loved.
i talked with a friend who organizes, and we're gonna make it a cross-fandom hashtag going live on Dec 16. 🥰
if you want to participate, reach out to me via message! anyone is welcome to join in.
even if your fandom is safe, even if you don't have a ton of followers. the goal is to get attention - not just for current rep, but for canceled shows too. it'll be a great opportunity to share why your fave matters to you, too.
stay silly ✌️
edit: idk why i wanted y'all to ask for it, the data is here

(the wicked king, right after nicasia shoots at cardan)
so there's a few ways to interpret this right cardan's mother was never a consort, so these may very well be her old rooms. she and cardan have a tumultuous relationship, he was content to let her rot in the tower of forgetting, but elevated her to a position of power after jude was banished and he thought she chose not to come back. so yeah, maybe he did choose those rooms to like, be closer to his mother? find answers? who knows. however, at this point of time, cardan thinks of jude as the person he serves right? he thinks he's just playing at being king and knows she's the one with real power/sovereignty. so if he's in the rooms of the "high king's lovers who weren't consorts" were not in a secured position of power, what if he chose those rooms because that's what he considered himself?
what if he considered himself just as much as jude's creature as she considered herself dain's?
